Acne Myths stop believing

Acne ~ A condition we all have gone through at some point in life.

Acne occurs when our follicles become clogged with dirt, oil and dead skin cells.
Acne can often result in whiteheads, blackheads or pimples.
Today we will discuss some acne myths that we all have been believing or have been made to believe for a long time.
There is a lot of information and in some cases misinformation about this condition. Read on to know what these acne myths are…

Acne only occurs during teenage years: Although acne appears more during adolescence and teenage years it can happen even in adults.Acne may look different in different ages- like pimples, whitehead or blackheads but they are all the same.

Stress causes acne: This might be partially correct.Based on a few studies, it was derived that college students had an increase in breakouts around exam time. But this was not the case with all students. Though stress does not directly contribute to acne, it can in some cases make your existing condition worse.

People with acne should avoid moisturisers: This is another common acne myth.Thick moisturisers can clog your pores making it difficult for your skin to breathe, but not applying any moisturiser is only going to cause further damage to your skin.In fact, regular use of a moisturiser maintains proper barrier function and is a vital contributor to good skin.

Acne happens overnight: Acne does seem to appear out of nowhere, but it definitely does not pop up overnight. It might be days or weeks before it actually shows up.Regular accumulation of dirt and build-up,fluctuating hormones and a stressful lifestyle gradually starts showing on your skin.

Greasy food causes acne: Now this one is definitely a popularly heard and said acne myth.It is best to keep greasy food to a minimum, but blaming it completely for your acne is a myth you need to bust right away.
